what's in a name?

When I decided to start a blog I had no idea what I was doing but I needed to come up with a name for it. I wanted a name that I could use no matter where life took me. I didn’t want it to be cute or serious but I did want it to have some reflection of me.

Well, I am an ice tea addict. There is nothing better than a tall glass filled with ice with a wedge of lemon squeezed into the glass and rubbed on the rim of the glass before filling it up with tropical flavored sun tea.

When I was in Italy I had to switch to coffee as it’s not easy to get a glass of ice let alone ice tea. It doesn’t help that I knew little Italian which made communication interesting.

I didn’t realize how much I missed ice tea until I came across the Hard Rock CafĂ© in Rome at the end of my trip. I must have consumed 2 gallons along with a buffalo chicken sandwich with fries. It was heaven.

I can drink ice tea 365 days of the year but when it gets really cold, yes it gets cold in Arizona, I turn to hot tea. Because of this addiction it felt right to use ice tea in my blog name. It doesn't reflect the content of the blog just he beverage of choice. So, that is why Ice Tea For Me became my blog name.

What is your favorite beverage?

How did you come up with your blog name?

I didn't realize that would be such a difficult question until I clicked on the comment link...hmmm...I'd have to say red wine, even if purists would scoff and say that wine is NOT just a beverage! It's the final product of knowledge accumulated from years of grape cultivation, etc etc...still, my answer holds the same.

As for my blog's name. I think it just popped into my head when a friend gave me that photo of myself and my white rubber slippers. Slippers, flipflops, ciabatte in italian, are my favorite form of footwear!

Regarding your comment, lemon cucumbers? Now that sounds like an interesting addition to the garden, if just for the looks alone. I'm trying to sprout some snake melon seeds but this cool mountain weather seems to be impeding its germination.

I think the name of your blog is perfect! It tells who you are, with a little humor.

Now I have always wondered... is it ice tea or iced tea? Sweet tea is not sweetened tea. Hot tea is not heated tea.
See~ perfect!

Rowena - if I lived in Italy wine would be my choice too.

Sandi - ice or iced it's the perfect drink on a hot summer day.

I guess I have two favorites--two cups of hot tea in the morning (loose leaf PK tips) with milk, no sugar and then red wine with meals later in the day (one glass or else it puts me right to sleep, despite the two cups of strong tea earlier!).

About my blog name...well, somehow it doesn't sound very original, but no one had it, so I grabbed it. We are surrounded by olive trees and I DO like to sit under one from time to time and gaze out at the surrounding hilltops...in fact during one such moment is when I decided that YES, we would try moving to Italy and everything got set into motion to make it a reality.

Under an Olive Tree - Original or not, that you decided to move to Italy while enjoying the shade of the said tree - there's a sentimental connection.

I enjoy your post of life in Italy, thank you for sharing.
