trick or treat

Today is the day that children around the United States and other parts of the world are allowed to collect as much candy as they can and then over the next days and weeks consume it to their hearts desire. Yes, all those cute little ghosts, pirates, and princesses will be on a sugar high like no other. Oh remember those days. I would try and make my candy last for months.

A fond memory for me but maybe not my sister Tam was that I had the misfortune to come down with the measles or chicken pox right before Halloween (can't remember which). I must have been 12 or 13 years old. I was stuck at home in bed and had to listen to the doorbell ring each time there were trick or treaters. How sad I was that I wasn't going to get a plastic pumpkin bucket full of candy to savor.

Unbeknownst to me my parents had my sister collect candy for me when she went trick or treating too. How surprised was I when Tam came home with candy for me. I was one happy camper. I'm sure my sister wasn't too happy to have to do this chore but it is easy to see that even at her young age she was taking care of her baby sister. Wasn't she a great sister?

Thanks Tam for bringing me candy that Halloween, you're the 'sweetest' sister.

Happy Halloween Everyone!
