meeting over caffe

Sunday, September 23, 2012

Had an early low key evening last night but I wish I'd had stayed out later as I still couldn't get to sleep.  I dozed while reading around 8pm (which was probably my problem, nothing to keep me awake) and preceeded not to fall asleep until after 1am.  I did manage to sleep until 6:30am so hopefully the kinks are getting worked out.  Once my mom and sister arrive there will be more activity.  I'm going to see if I can download some movies onto my iPad so I can watch soemthing.  The TV in my apartment has about 900 stations but not many are in English and it takes forever to go through the channels, not worth it.  I haven't seen or heard any news for 4 days, for all I know the whole world except for Italy has perished and I wouldn't have a clue.  Guess I could check out CNN while on the internet but don't to waste my time nor spend so much at the interet cafe.

It was overcast when I woke up and the clouds looked ominous so I wore a long sleeve shirt with jeans and took a scarf and umbrella just in case.  No need for that.  Even though overcast when you're walking you warm up and there's no sign of rain..

I met up with Debra who blogs at Bagni di Lucca and Beyond and Bella Bagni di Lucca for a caffe in a the town of Ponte A Serraglio which is a 20 minute walk.  Enjoyed a caffe latte and miele sfoglia (apple pastry) at Il Monaco (total €2).  Chatted about our love for Italia, places I'm visitng on this trip and she gave me many suggestions in the places I'm going.  Fortunately she's posted this on her web for easy access.

It's 1pm and I'm ready for prazo as I've already gotten in 5 miles of walking.  The Pinnochio festival is still going on so the main street in closed in La Villa which makes it nice to wander around without worry about the cars.  I found out Bagni di Lucca is the name of group of approximately 25 small towns and the town I'm staying in is called La Villa.

Off to lunch, will update with the rest of my day later... Ciao.

Walked 12,359 steps = 6.22 miles.
